Rams WR Odell Beckham Jr. To Receive New Salary In Bitcoin

As you know, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. signed a one-year deal with the Rams after a rocky tenure with the Browns, and today he announced on Twitter today that he will be taking his new salary entirely in Bitcoin.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Beckham’s deal is worth up to $4.25 million. Beckham will receive a $500K signing bonus, $750K salary and up to $3 million in team-based incentives.

OBJ isn’t the first athlete to hop on board the crypto train, and it’s actually a rather smart play, if you assume that BTC will continue rising in the coming years. Given how Bitcoin jumped from a low of $30K to a high of just over $60K in just the past 6 months or so, if Odell plays it right and HODLs for awhile, he could conceivably double his money if things go right. But crypto is super volatile, so it could just as easily go the other way.

My guess, CashApp (who he partnered with) probably gave him a hefty pay-day for this deal, so he won’t be hurting for money regardless.
