“Hello Brett Favre? How you doin?”

Favre declines return to NFL with Rams
Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 7:07AM

The St. Louis Rams attempted to entice Brett Favre to return to the gridiron, but the old gunslinger passed on the opportunity to return to the NFL according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.

Favre last played in 2010 with the Vikings, but last month when his agent, Bus Cook, said that the future Hall of Famer was in the best shape of his life last month, many wondered if a comeback could be in the works. It seems like Favre put an end to those talks on Thursday, when word spread that he declined St. Louis’ offer to come out of retirement.

The Rams’ quarterback situation became bleak when Sam Bradford tore his left ACL during Sunday’s 30-15 Week 7 loss to the Panthers, ending his season. Veteran Kellen Clemens took over the reigns for Bradford and will get the start this week when the Rams host the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. The Rams beefed up their depth chart at quarterback on Tuesday, when they brought back Austin Davis and signed Brady Quinn, who was cut by the Jets on Monday. Davis is listed as that team’s backup, while Quinn is currently the third quarterback.

Favre’s last return from retirement came in 2008 caused quite the media frenzy, but it seems like he’s content with retired life. For now.
