Rams WR Mark Clayton expects to play Sunday at Cowboys

When asked if he would play Sunday where he grew up (Arlington/Dallas area), Rams wide receiver Mark Clayton sounded confident concerning his status against the Cowboys.

“I do,” Clayton responded, as to if he will play in Dallas in Week seven. “I’ve been sitting around in the meetings with the offense, and I’ve got a really good grasp on that. So, I don’t think that will be an issue.”

Health-wise, Clayton also is confident that his knee is fine.

“I’m fast, explosive, quick, sudden — like all that,” he said.

Being removed from the PUP list, Wednesday was the first practice since the former Sooner standout suffered a season-ending knee injury on Oct. 10, 2010, against Detroit.

In five games last season, the Oklahoma alum caught 23 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns for the Rams.

Johnson is back: Cornerback Marquis Johnson is off the PUP list and started practicing Wednesday along with Clayton. Johnson is coming off shoulder surgery and microfracture knee surgery.

A seventh-round draft pick out of Alabama in 2010, Johnson was on the practice squad for two weeks last season, played two games in a reserve role (recording two tackles), but then went on injured reserve Oct. 5, 2010.
