With the Rams season over, it is time to think about who should be back next year at every position. Let’s take a look through player by player. Next up are the tight ends.
Randy McMichael – Randy is as good as gone as far as I’m concerned. He’s a veteran and hasn’t played like it with dropped passes, penalties and only mediocre blocking.
Daniel Fells – Fells is still a raw, athletic tight end in his second year with the Rams. He could use more experience, but won’t be more than a 2nd or 3rd tight end in 2010.
Billy Bajema – Billy Bajema was an under-the-radar signing for the Rams as a blocking tight end, but has shown some limited ability to catch passes. Bajema should be brought back in 2010 as a blocking tight end at the very least.
Eric Butler (practice squad) – Can’t say I know much about Butler, but he has bounced between the practice squad and the active roster in 2009 and should be invited to training camp in 2010.
The Rams should be in the market for a starting tight end in this off-season. Jermaine Gresham from Oklahoma and Aaron Hernandez from Florida are interesting draft prospects in the 2nd round or the Rams should try to get unhappy Tony Scheffler from the Denver Broncos.
