Quote of the Day

They have crossed the goal line 14 times in 12 games. Subtract defensive end Leonard Little’s TD on an interception return in Jacksonville, and Daniel Fells’ TD catch on a fake field goal in Detroit, and the Rams have 12 offensive touchdowns in 12 games.

That is some serious offense ineptitude, and puts the Rams as the 6th lowest scoring team since the NFL went to 16 games.  However, Football Outsiders has the Rams ranked as the 26th offense in the NFL in 2009, primarily based on the strength of their running game which ranks 18th and around league average.

This would seem to indicate one of two things: the Rams are not using their strengths when getting in scoring range (true) or the Rams are self-destructing on the opponent’s half of the field(also true).

The Rams are a historically bad scoring offense, however, DVOA says that the Rams should be able to get better in their offense by limiting mistakes and sticking to what works on the rest of the field when they are inside scoring range.
