Rams Sign Jordan Kent

The Rams today signed free agent WR Jordan Kent, who was formerly with the Seattle Seahawks after being drafting by the Seahawks in the 6th round of the 2007 NFL Draft.  Kent was a three-sport star for Oregon, playing both basketball, football and running track.  A roster spot opened up when WR Keenan Burton was placed on the IR, ending his season.

We don’t know much about Kent, so let’s see what people have to say around the internet.

Field Gulls, a Seattle Seahawks blog had this to say about Kent in training camp this year.

Jordan Kent is two steps from being good. He has good hands and tracks the ball well. His athleticism is a given. He loses focus in traffic and can be knocked off his route. I hate to drop a noun that has connotations of manliness or the lack thereof, but Kent needs toughness. Kent needs to accept football is a hitting sport and thrive in it.

And this:

Again, especially for a wide receiver, another day of viewing is in order. Jordan Kent has already established himself as a training camp superstar, but not everyone can own the VMAC like Jordan.

Cnnsi had this scouting report on Jordan Kent from the 2007 Draft.

POSITIVES: Nice-sized, athletic receiver with a lot of upside. Nicely adjusts to the errant throw, makes the reception away from his frame and looks the ball in. Tall, strong target who wins out for the jump ball or out-muscles opponents for the difficult reception.

NEGATIVES: Lacks the second gear or ability to get separation downfield. Rounds off routes and not quick into breaks. Must pick up the blocking intensity.

ANALYSIS: Displaying a lot of progress last year, Kent is a developmental prospect with a raw game. Possesses the underlying physical skills to be a third receiver at the next level but needs time to complete his game.
