Last Thursday evening was filled with hope and despair in equal measures for Rams fans. It was week 3 of the preseason schedule and the Rams put on a performance against New England that left us ravenous for more. The hope came in the form of Sam Bradford, who, in his first start, tore apart [...]
And all the (limited) suspense has already been taken out of the first cutdown today as the Rams trimmed 3 players and put another 2 on IR.
The Rams cut:
CB Marcus Brown
OT Joe Gibbs
FB Jamie McCoy
The Rams placed the following 2 players on IR:
WR Donnie Avery
OT Phil Trautwein
None of the cuts are Joe Klopfenstein level surprises [...]
In an expected result, the Rams defacto number 1 receiver Donnie Avery is out for the season with torn ligaments in his right knee. Avery will have surgery in the next few weeks and will not be fully healed until training camp next season.
The expected replacements for Avery are Keenan Burton, Mardy Gilyard or Brandon [...]
Let’s begin our spin around the Rams roster breaking down every player and their role in the 2010 Rams, if they are going to make the team and their role in the future. Today we are going to cover the crowded field at WR.

Word has emerged recently that the Rams and Isaac Bruce are going to make arrangements that will allow him to retire as a Ram. And for those brief hours, he’s still going to be the St. Louis Rams’ best wide receiver. Maybe new receivers coach Nolan Cromwell can talk a fellow team legend into staying [...]

A weird thing happened at Edward Jones Dome Sunday when the St. Louis Rams hosted the Houston Texans. First the expected – the Texans outgained the Rams 419-237, had more first downs (22-15) and a minute and twenty seconds more of ball possession time. One would think “easy victory”, right? Not so fast. The Texans [...]
Receivers Donnie Avery and Brandon Gibson gave the Rams a badly needed boost at the position. Getting Avery healthy — or at least healthier — during the bye week was key. Avery set a career high with two touchdown receptions.
From Mike Sando of ESPN’s NFC West Blog in his Silver Linings post. Is it possible [...]
I share this without comment. (Emphais mine)
“It’s a lot better,” Avery said. “I’m feeling really fluent out there.”
So far in 2009, Donnie Avery has not been the dynamic WR the Rams had in the beginning of the 2008 season and when they chose him in the 2nd round of the 2008 NFL draft.
In 2008, Avery averaged 12.7 yards per reception.
In 2009, Avery has averaged 6.2 yards per reception. Let’s look a little [...]
