“This (Rams) offense tonight, has set offensive football back 50 years.” Herme Edwards
Do we hate him? Its kind of hard to hate someone when their right. But I think he could have been more specific. I think the Rams offensive woes stem from a lack of leadership (and toughness, and talent, and bravado…) at the quarter back position. Our front line is average, our receivers are good, our tight ends are good, and our running backs are above average. We’re missing a Brett Favre, a Tony Romo, a Cam Newton. An exciting player who can inspire people. I believe its that simple.
Two problems with this realization: 1) no QB on our roster can fill this bill. No one. 2) If you look at the available free agents out there… there isn’t a single guy that even makes me go hmmm… So what now? Someone else has got to show up. Todd Gurley was no help last night. It’s easy to say “its not his fault”. It’s really hard to say… “Todd, you’re the man. Our expectation for you isn’t normal. You need to be Adrian Foster, Adrian Peterson or Eric Dickerson. Anything less than a super star performance will be considered a sub par performance for you”. Not fair? Jerry Rice would have been ok with it. Any of the other running backs I mentioned would be ok with it.
The Rams will not win until someone on the team (Aaron Donald)… Until multiple people on the team get sick of losing. The Rams will not win until someone stands up and refuses to loose. So you don’t have a good quarterback… then you need to find someone else; something else. As a fan I’m personally sick of watching uninspired Rams football.
Anyone from the Rams organization listening….?
