Rams Lose to Packers 10-24

There was so much going on in this game.  Rams QB Nick Foles threw 4 intercepts.  It’s tempting to want to Google his home address and be there waiting for him, but even though 4 INTs is completely unacceptible, he got the snot kicked out of him all day long.  The stats say he was only sacked 3 times, but he was hit like a freight train over and over and over.  No quarterback… not Aaron Rogers, not Drew Brees, not even Tom Brady can be under that kind of pressure all day long and continue to make good decisions and accurate passses.  It’s weird too because Todd Gurley rushed for 159 yards.  So our offensive line must have done something right to help get him there, but their pass protection was sooo bad.  Rams starting guard Saffold was injured in the first quarter, but its not like the o-line looked good before he left.  (He was actually injured in the middle of the Nick Foles pick 6.)

The whole game was bascially a tremendous effort by the Rams to dig themselves out of the whole they dug for themselves.  I have to give the Rams props because they never gave up.  With approx a minute remaining in the game Foles hits receiver Bailey for a 68 yard strike that nearly took him into the endzone.  What happened next though was indicative of the entire game.   3 plays later Foles throws another interception which ended the contest.  I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but the very play before that Foles took another brutal hit from the Packers d-line.  Today the Rams missed 3 field goals and had 4 passes picked off (1 for a pick 6).  Combine that with missed assignments in the defensive secondary, missed tackles, a few dropped passes, a quarterback who can’t scramble well constantly running for his life, and you have created a very desperate situation for yourself.  Not to mention you’re playing on the road against one of the NFL’s elite teams.  Again, I can’t tell you how impressed I am with the Rams effort, but your biggest opponent has got to be the team on the other side of the field; not yourself.

Lucky for Nick Foles we have a bye week next week.  I know for sure he’s going to need time to heal.  After the bye we face the Browns and then the 49ers so things are lightening up a little.  We have got to figure some things out between now and then.  How do we strengthen up our offensive line is probable number 1?  Then someone has got to help Foles get more comfortable in the pocket and to make better decisions.  There were many times today when he needed to tuck that football deep into his gut and take the sack.  Instead, he kept attempting very dangerous passes.  Finally, will someone please give Greg Zeurlein a hug?  We need to get his confidence back up lol.

Got to keep moving forward.  Go Rams!!!
