The Rams opening drive gave me flashbacks from last year (and the year before that and the year before that), but after that first feeble offensive effort the Rams have been… Well, they’ve been good. Not just good on defense, but good on offense. We actually held the lead for most of the 2 quarter. With just under 2 minutes remaining in the half the Hawks started a new offensive drive. Knowing how the Rams of old have crumbled in these situations I was concerned. They Hawks did some damage and were able to drive to the Rams 7 yards line, but that’s all they could muster. Too soon to be singing the Rams’ praises, but THE RAMS LOOK GOOD BABY!!!
The Rams are the only team who have scored an offensive TD and the Rams defense has not given up a single big play to the Hawks. The test will come in the second half. Can we keep playing tough? Will the Rams show a new 2nd half mental toughness that has long been absent from the team? I’m excited to find out.
Finally, the Rams have got to keep the offense on the field. RB Cunningham and WR Austin have been exciting, QB Foles has made some risky plays under duress, but so far nothing grossly stupid. I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but it we play smart… we could win this game.
