Rams vs Vikings – Halftime Report

st-louis-rams

I enjoyed the entire first half of the game. Almost. The Vikings were able to move the ball, but they weren’t getting big chunks of yardage. Our defense was getting pressure on Viking’s QB Cassel and no one on the team had made any big mistakes. Our offense was a little slow getting started, but we looked competent. It looked like a big play was right around the corner. It didn’t even bother me that our star FG kicker Zuerlein missed a field goal while the Viking’s kicker Walsh made 2. We looked energetic and there were no melt downs.

With 2 minutes left on the clock we had the ball deep in our own territory. I thought “ok, here we go… one great drive to end the half and this game looks very winnable. Heck, even a field goal would leave us going into the half just 3 points down.” Instead, replacement QB Hill tosses up a pass into double coverage that is intercepted. The interception leads to a Vikings touchdown and suddenly we are 13 points down going into the half.

The #1 thing to ruin our season; stupid plays. Melt downs. This just can’t happen. There’s a lot of game left so it isn’t over. Time to turn things around in the 2nd half. Go Rams!!!
