I’m tempted to say it was a compelling ending to a mediocre game, but the last 2 plays of the game are baffling. In a game where I expected the Rams to get crushed, we were in the game until the very end. Not because we played so well, but because the Seahawks played so poorly. Our offense sputtered continually, but the Seahawks refused to stop us. Penalty after penalty by the hawks helped us to hang on for one more breath, one more first down, one more implausible chance to win. All of this brought us to 3rd and goal on the Seahawks 1 yard line. Previously, with 6:37 remaining in the game the defense made a stand for the ages. But the Rams offense could not conjure up a single ounce of bravado. Like I said, it was third and goal and the Rams who had been successful running the ball for a good part of the game, ran for it. The problem is it was the wrong guy running the ball. RB Stacy had been the man the whole game (rushing for over 100 yards), but the Rams (in a power running back situation) gave the ball to their speedser Richardson. The wrong guy for this type of play. Now its 4th and one and Clemens throws up a rushed, disorganized, looping pass to the left that never had a chance. Who is calling these plays?
We had many chances to win the game. The Seahawks were willing, but we refused. I think I’d rather be crushed than to lose simply because we couldn’t muster enough efffort. So, we drop to 3-5. A tough night for St Louis. Go Rams!!! Go Cardinals!!!
