Rams vs Panthers – Halftime Update

1034

Rams 5, Panther 17

Until the last couple possessions of the half I was going to say the Rams are playing pretty well.  The opening play of the game, a Panther’s pick 6, put us into a whole, but if you look at how we’ve played since… not too bad.  4 of 8 on 3rd down conversions, RB Stacy has already picked up 44 yards running, and both total yards gained and time of possession are in our favor.  Of course that’s what I was going to say until the last couple of possessions.  With 5:25 remaining in the second quarter the Rams forgot how to play.  The Rams defensive gave all of the Panthers receivers way to much cushion and as a result they were open way to often.  Plus, the defense just plain stopped tackling.  When the Panthers finally scored their touchdown, the Ram’s offense looked just ast bad.  Next play is a Bradford sack followed by RB Richardson being tackled behind the line of scrimmage.

Even with bad play on the last couple possessions we’d still be in this game if it wasn’t for our own mistakes.  We had 2 big turnovers (one costing us 7 points right out of the gate) and a penalty which also cost us 7 points and bringing back a beautiful Bradford TD pass.  At 17-5 this game is not out of hand, but we have got to start playing with a purpose.  No more mistakes.  Let’s Go Rams!!!
