In a game that was seemingly winnable, the Rams were thumped by the Cowboys. QB Sam Bradford was sacked 6 times and hit another 8 times. How does this happen? RT Tackle Roger Saffold was out of the lineup (injury… isn’t he always injured?), but I still find it hard to explain. Especially when the 2013 Rams had not given up a single sack until this point. At halftime the Rams had gained 18 yards rushing and had not earned a single first down. Rams starting RB Daryl Richardson almost immediately left the game with an injury, but to only earn 18 yards in rushing… it’s almost as if there were no backups.
Common sense and athletic ability somehow never got on the plane for today’s game. Where did they go? Did they end up in the physical trainer’s Jacuzzi back in St Louis? I have to tell you, when fans are paying 100’s of dollars for a seat to a football game, when TV networks are paying billions of dollars to the NFL for TV rights, and when our starting QB is given $40 million bucks right out of the gate, this type of embarrassment should not take place. (Maybe today’s performance by the Rams only goes to show how ridiculous the latter 3 points really are.)
Next week (Thursday) the Rams take on arch enemies SF 49ers at the Edward Jones Domes. Last year we played exciting football against the Niners and when all was said and done, we surprised a lot of people with a win and a tie. The 49ers are having their own struggles right now, but I seriously hope the Rams can stop playing ostrich and pull their collective heads out of the ground long enough to continue this recent history of exciting football between the Rams and the Niners.
PS I can’t think of a single Rams player I’d like to look at right now so… you get a picture of their cheerleaders. Happy Sunday!
