There are plenty of headlines coming out of the Rams preseason opener. “Chris Givens is going to have a breakout year”, “Roger Saffold injures shoulder (what’s new?)”, “Fisher has lost respect for Bernie Kosar”…
The only headline I’d like to hear is… “The Rams Win!” or “The Rams Win Again!” or “Given’s TD Catch Wins Game!” Let’s swallow our pride Rams fans (and Coach Fisher) because until we start winning, none of this noise matters. Sure, Kosar showed a real lack of class, but he didn’t hack Bradford and who’s to say his comments about Kellens were that off the mark? The Rams are building and getting better for sure, but until our season record threatens other teams chances of making the post season (and not just because our conference is so bad a losing team can make the playoffs), then there should be no boasting and all slanders should be met with a simple, “no comment”.
To win requires a singular focus and playing the ‘headlines game’ is not where it’s at. After the last 5 or 6 years, a winning performance and record is the only real defense we have Rams Nation.
