The NFL 2013 Preseason Is On!!!

The 2013 NFL season starts tonight as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Miami Dolphins in the Hall of Fame Game.  Is it just me or has it been a long offseason?  Also, seems like kind of a quiet offseason for the Rams.  Not so much in terms of not making roster moves, but quiet in terms of the noise levels these moves have made.  I think things went quiet due to losing RB Steven Jackson and WR Danny Amendola early on.  Losing these 2 pillar players was a shock to Rams Nation and its taken time for the successive acquisitions to move into the forefront of our minds.  That time has now come and gone and we’ll get a first glimpse of the results this upcoming Thursday Aug 8th.  The Rams take on the Browns in Cleveland.  The Browns have put some serious efforts (and money) into improving their defense.  The Browns brought in LB Paul Kruger from their division-rival Baltimore Ravens on a five-year, $40.8 million contract.  However, they have nothing on the Rams who brought in TE Jared Cook ($35M over 5 years) and LT Jake Long ($34M over 4 years) to strengthen our O-line.

Unfortunately, a glimpse is about all we’ll see in this game.  In the first preseason game the starting squads will probably only be on the field for 1 or 2 drives.  The rest of the game will be played by the second string, the third string, and others who hope to showcase their talent and find a spot on the team.  I’m exciting to see it all begin, but it will be a while before we see the final product and what they’re capable of.

So tonight we say hello to the 2013 NFL season.  Darn glad to see ya boy!
