Rams Quiet In Free Agency

The Rams have been pretty quiet in Free Agency.  We’ve lost 3 offensive players; two of which have been the heart and soul of the team (Steven Jackson and Danny Amendola), to free agency.  We have picked up a couple of solid players, but no one who is meant to fill their shoes.  Here is all of the Rams 2013 free agency activity.

POS Player  FA Status  Previous Team  Current Team
RB Chase Reynolds  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
WR Nick Johnson Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
WR Raymond Radway  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
WR Titus Young  Signed  Detroit Lions  St. Louis Rams
TE Jared Cook  Signed  Tennessee Titans  St. Louis Rams
TE Cameron Graham  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
TE Mike McNeill  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
OT Ty Nsekhe  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
C Tim Barnes  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
OG OG Brandon Washington  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
DL Mason Brodine  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
DL Jermelle Cudjo  Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams
LB Jabara Williams Re-signed  St. Louis Rams  St. Louis Rams

The obvious explanation is that we’re looking to fill our missing pieces via the draft.  Still, seems like a smart coach would utilize both avenues if we’re planning on being in contention for the 2013/2014 playoffs.  It never cease to be surprised and confused by Rams recruiting strategies.

I am definitely looking forward to the draft.  Go Rams!
