The 2013 Super Bowl participants have been decided. Representing the AFC are the 10-6 Baltimore Ravens. Representing our own NFC are the 11-4-1 SF 49ers (your welcome for 1-0-1). Super Bowl XLVII will be played in New Orleans on Feb 3, 2013. The 49ers are lead by an explosive young talent QB Colin Kaepernick, while the Ravens are lead by a young but playoff savvy QB in Joe Flacco. Both teams are known for very tough in your-face defenses. The truth though is that only 1 team is the real deal; the other is a poser. Look at these 2012 regular season rankings:
On the offensive side the 49ers have the clear advantage with RB Frank Gore. On the defensive side of the ball we see the Ravens have been living off reputation and not performance.
So the question becomes can the Ravens get by on sure hype and emotion? The team seems to truly love its retiring LB Ray Lewis, but will that be enough to get this average football squad past such an accomplished opponent in the Super Bowl? On the 49ers side of the ball the only question I see is can SF QB Kaepernick, who has only lead his team for half the 2012 season, close the deal? Yes, he appears confident and super athletic, but can he triumph on one of the biggest sporting stages in the world?
I think games of this caliber exposes teams. As I result I expect NFC SF 49ers to win it all.
Since the Rams had a 1-0-1 record against the Niners in 2012, it kind of makes you go ‘hmmm’.
