A few days ago we all jumped on the Rob Ryan story. The apparent signing of Rob Ryan as Rams defensive coordinator garnered more excitement than it probably warranted. Now Rob has said, “can I get another margarita please and Jeff Fisher who?” lol It might happen, but who knows.
The Rams fire 3 people from their scouting department (assistant director of college scouting John Mancini, area scout Drew Casani, and area scout Luke Driscoll). One of them, Mancini, has been with the Rams since they moved to St Louis in 1995. You hate to lose people who have been around for awhile, but it’s not like the Rams have been playing great ball.
News about the Edward Jones Dome or perhaps a new stadium? Ok, there really isn’t any news. The Rams and the the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission will meet for arbitration this week, but there’s no real news. It seems several locations for a stadium have been identified, but that’s all. “Hey, look… we could put something over there.” In reality the Rams have a contract with the Edward Jones Dome for a number of years. The only way to get out of the contract would be for the Rams to buy their way out. (Which would be pretty stupid…)
And of course the draft and free agency will be coming up. If you read what sports media says you get the obvious and common sense stuff, but how often does the obvious and common sense stuff materialize? Close to never that’s how often. Football is like real life. You usually get a job because you know someone. Free agent names being tossed around right now…
WR Dwayne Bowe (Kansas City Chiefs)
TE Jared Cook (Tennessee Titans)
S William Moore (Atlanta Falcons)
DT Desmond Bryant (Oakland Raiders)
G Andy Levitre (Buffalo Bills)
You’ll see these same names in lots of articles. Some have been thrown out there since the middle of 2012. Fisher has a unique way of doing things. Not very likely you’ll see the Rams pick-em up. Fisher doesn’t draft offensive linemen with first round picks so (once again) who knows.
