Top 5 2013 WR Draft Candidates

Keenan Allen

Here are the top 5 WR receivers coming into the 2013 NFL Draft

Keenan Allen – CAL – athletic, but not big enough or fast enough

Terrence Williams – Baylor – has a long frame, great vertical speed, and good footwork along the sidelines, and good with the ball in his hands

Tavon Austin – West Virginia – played as a slot receiver and sometimes running back. He’s small, but tough. Kind of a Danny Amendola type player.

Robert Woods – Southern Cal – great size and athleticism, tremendous route running skills, but can drop passes and his yards per catch are not impressive (11.8)

Cordarrelle Patterson – TEN – strong and tall, is fast enough to create seperation, makes impressive catches and is confident, but not polished and makes some mistakes.

Most of these guys could go before the Rams’ selection. We don’t need Austin, but Patterson could be around and might be a good fit.

I don’t see any chance of the Rams taking a WR in the first round with either pick. OT and OG or OT and FS. Probably not in the second round, either.

Rookie wideouts take a while to develop and Quick and Givens did fine. The only better rookie WR than Givens was Yates in Indy. With Quick, Givens, Pettis and Amendola all back for sure, there’s just not a need there. If they felt like they needed one, they’d be way more likely to go after a big time FA like they did with the secondary and Finnegan last season. Somebody like Williams or Jennings.

Uuumm. Danny A is a free agent this Wr class is way way deep Rams need Wr s that can get separation I would like to c them take a Wr in second round like Da Rick Rogers or Quitin Patton

  3. Trenton Foiles says:

Jonathon Banks was asked who was the tuffest Wr u played against n college he played against AJ Green and Julio Jones his answer was Quintin Patton.

Plus no way 5 Wr s go before the Rams pick at 16 not even close there will good Wr s taken n 2 and 3rd round

  5. Trenton Foiles says:

DaAndrea Hopkins and DaRick Rogers should b n your top 5 over Patterson and Woods

There’s no way Amendola isn’t back. A rookie wideout just isn’t a need and there’s just no way they take one in rounds 1 or 2. Now if somebody like Da’Rick Rogers is there in the third or fourth, they could take him. They’re more likely to trade a pick than take a WR.

Justin Hunter (from Tenn) should be on this list too. He’ll get drafted ahead of Allen and Austin both. In fact, my five would be Hunter, Patterson, Rogers, Woods and Williams.

Here’s a great couple of mock drafts that see things the way I do.

I would like Danny A back but no guarantee s. I see the needs for the Rams and yes OT OG FS OLB. Are needs! But they do need another Wr even if Givings Quick become Stars u can’t have to many good Wrs aka GB before we debate the draft there is free agents both on current team and if they bring in new guys pos addressing some of those needs and I would like to see the Rams trade down if they can pick up a extra 2nd or 3rd rounder then Adam and I can both get what we want .

  9. Crawdad says:

Nuc Hopkins from Clemson would be ideal at 22, and I know Fish doesn’t like to draft O-line in early rounds but how can you pass up UNC’s Cooper?
