Vikings Destroying Rams 30-7 at Halftime

This game started off bad for the Rams from play number one.  Givens took the kick off from deep in the end zone and ran it out to about the 10.  One first down later the Rams punted the ball giving the Vikings great field position.  The Vikings throw a couple of TE passes and move to the Rams 6 yard line.  On what should have been a sack, Vikings QB Ponder eluded Robert Quinn and ran it in himself for a TD.  Ridiculous.  The Rams played fairly well for the rest of the first quarter holding Vikings RB Adrian Peterson to 8 yards on 8 runs.

In the second quarter we witnessed an epic meltdown by the Rams.  As soon as it was announced Adrian had been held 8 for 8, he busted out an 82 yard TD run.  The Rams had just come away with a nice TD pass  from Bradford to Quick in the back of the end zone and BOOM, Adrian sucked all of the oxygen from the dome.  After Peterson the Vikings biggest threat has been their defensive line who have been getting pressure on Bradford pretty much at will.  As a result Bradford personally gave up 2 turnovers (interception and fumble) for 10 points.  Oh, and you can toss another 38 yard field goal in there and the score is 27-7 Vikings.

With 2 minutes remaining in the half the Rams take possession of the ball.  I was tempted to start my 1st half summary, but I thought, “stay positive… if the Rams can get a TD in the last 2 minutes here we’ll only be 2 scores down and we still have a chance.  So, the Rams started the drive out nice with 2 quick sideline passes (each gained first downs and stopped the clock).  But a few penalties later the Rams were forced to attempt a long field goal.  The kick is up and soooo far right it’s ridiculous.  The Rams turn the ball over on downs giving the Vikings the ball back with good field position and a minute on the clock.  Of course the Vikings successfully drive the ball and come away with a score (this field goal from 42 yards out).

The score at the half is Vikings 30, Rams 7.  With penalties, turnovers, poor decisions, bad tackling, and a poor performance via our offense line… this game is over.  We’ll update you on the second half, but you can put this game in the loss column Rams’ fans.
