This game has been nothing like the shoot-um-up game we saw a couple weeks ago in SF. This has been a hard hitting give-nothing-up-for-free battle. The 49ers have the only score of the half via a 2 yard Frank Gore TD run. The Niners had good field position for most of the half while the Rams suffered an alternate fate having very long fields. That, plus a very tough 49ers defense, has helped to almost completely shut down the Rams offense. The Rams offense didn’t even cross mid-field until the last drive of the half. The Rams closed out the half giving Greg ‘The Leg’ Zuerlein an attempt at a 58 yard field goal. The kick was wide right leaving the Rams scoreless. (49ers 7, Rams 0)
The highlight of game for the Rams has been their pass rush. They have been able to pressure Niner QB Kaepernick and take him down for 3 sacks (compared to 1 against Sam Bradford). The Rams have got to get creative on offense. They have been hurt by the absence of their star slot receiver Danny Amendola. Bradford has thrown a few check down passes to Steven Jackson and it seems they should use him in that capacity a lot more.
A lot of game left so stay tuned and GO RAMS!!!
