The Rams and 49ers Tie in OT

I can’t even begin to tell you what a crazy game this was.    Time expired in regulation time with the score 24-24.  The Rams receive the ball as OT starts, but are unable to score on the drive.  The Niners gain possession and drive all the way down the field to the Rams 27 yard line.  David Akers, the field goal kicker for the 49ers, comes in the game to kick a very reasonable 41 yard field goal.  The game is basically over and WHAT…?  Akers misses.  Akers misses.

The Rams take over on downs and start from their 31 yard line.  Jackson and Richardson bull doze their way across the field.  The Rams get down to the 34 yard line of the 49ers and Greg ‘the Leg’ Zuerlein comes in to attempt a 50+ yard field goal.  The ball is snapped and the field goal is good!  But wait, a late penalty comes in (one of many for the day) and the Rams are called with delay of game.  WHAT?  The ball is backed up 5 yards and we try it again.  This time the field goal is no good.  What?  My poor heart can’t take it.

Each team got another shot at scoring, but could not capitalize.  The OT clock ticks to zero and the score is 24 Rams, 24 49ers.  We have a tie.  (What?)  lol  Here is the scoring summary:

  1 2 3 4 Final
Rams 14 3 7 24
49ers 7 17 24
