Rams vs Dolphins: Q2 Update

Things have gone a little sideways for the Rams in the 2nd quarter.   Although we continue to do some things well, we have been unable to get into the end zone and our special teams have fallen apart.

What have we done good?  Outside of the red zone we have run the ball very well.  Plus, Rams offense has displayed a balanced attack.  In doing so the Dolphin’s defense has been kept guessing and has allowed some passing strikes by Bradford to a variety of receivers.  Even Sam Bradford contributed to the running game with a 21 yard sprint (his longest of the year).  So, we have looked good for much of the game (except in the red zone).

Let’s talk about the bad.  Young Geezy, Greg the Leg, who came in the game without a miss… missed two field goals.  The conditions are windy on the field, but we lost 6 points.  The special teams have had other problems with 2 fumbles; one of which was a turnover resulting in 3 points for the Dolphins.  And the highly ranked Rams passing defense was tested (and failed) by a Miami drive that featured 4 passes and ended in a 29 yard pass from Tanehill to Moore for a TD.  This drive has been the scoring difference in the game.

The Rams are playing well enough to stay in the game.  We just need to get a psychologist down on the field when the offense approaches the red zone.  “You are worthwhile, you deserve good things, the end zone is a good place; a peaceful place…”   I’m just saying… we have a problem and we have got to get it fixed to win this game.  The 2nd half is about to start and the score is Rams 6, Dolphins 10.  Let’s do this.
