Redskins vs Rams: Halftime Update

In light of how things have gone for the Rams over the last 5 years you hate to hear this, but it’s true; the Rams are fighting hard to stay in this game.  We saw bad officiating and things going against the Rams in the 1st quarter.  Going in the 2nd quarters it went from bad to worse.  The Rams have the ball to open the quarter and SJ runs for over 45 yards (over multiple plays).  Then toss in a 19 yard pass to Gibson and the Rams are on the Redskins goal line.  On third down Jackson makes an amazing effort to get across the goal line, but no TD is called.  A replay clearly shows the ball breaking the goal line, but no TD is given.  The Rams settle for a FG and the score is 14-6 Redskins.  So many missed or incorrect calls in this game.  In my mind the referee strike had been a non issue, but not any more.  Something has got to be done to get ‘real’ officials back on the field.

On the very next drive.  It’s Griffin to Hankerson for a 68 yard TD pass.  Jenkins who has looked tough all game, is burned in an embarrassing manner.  The score is now 21-6 and I’m seeing a whole lot of ugly on my TV  screen.  At this point the Rams begin to show some real moxy.  Instead of coming back with some kind of conservative and predictable play calling, the Rams come right out with a 56 yard pass to Danny Amendola (Amendola has been the Rams best offensive receiving weapon in the game).  Next a first down pass to Kendricks and then on 3rd and goal it’s a TD pass to Amendola.  The score is 21-13 Redskins.

Finally, the Rams get a break.  There is 1:58 left on the clock and the Redskins take possession.  Cortland Finnegan intercepts Griffin and the Rams have the ball on the Redskins 40 yard line.  Fast forward to a Rams field goal and we come to the end of the half.  The score is Redskins 21 – Rams 16.  When this game is not frustrating it is very exciting.  The Rams are right in there so stay tuned.  Go Rams!!!
