Choke A Sports Writer Day

As I often do… I’ve spent time today reading about everything Rams Nation.  I’ve got to say I’ve read a lot of garbage.  Why am I slaving here over a hot stove while these guys are writing crap?  It seems a lot of sports writers simply like to fill up space.  Gentlemen, I’m getting tired of reading your non-fact-based opinions.  Unless you’re a head coach, an assistant coach, or someone on the inside who is at all the practices and at all of the team meetings, then leave your opinion back on the sofa.  Here is some of the stuff I’ve read today:

– The Rams have got to get Brian Quick in the game.  Without his contribution the Rams can’t win.  OHH MY GOSH…  The reason Quick is not in the game is because he is not playing well enough.  Fisher knows what he is doing.  He works with Quick every day.  If the guy was ready, he’d be in there.

– When are we going to know if Sam Bradford is back?  OHH MY GOSH…    Give it a rest.  No one knows.  This topic has been beat to death.  He had a good game against the Lions.  Hopefully, he’ll have a good game against the Skins.

– Are the Rams shaking their heads they didn’t draft RG3.  OHH MY GOSH…  We didn’t draft him.  He doesn’t play for us and he never will.  It’s a fictionary discussion (too much?).

– The Rams defensive line was supposed to be really good, but they didn’t get much pressure on Stafford.  OHH MY GOSH…  We are missing our star DT Michael Brookers in the middle.  When he gets back then let’s talk.

– Although the Rams secondary shut down Calvin Johnson for most of the game, this doesn’t prove anything.  OHH MY GOSH…    Really?  Shutting down Calvin Johnson doesn’t mean anything?

– The Rams offensive line really needs to gel for them to be successful.  OHH MY GOSH…    That is so #!$%^#* insightful.  The Rams O-line is going to struggle the entire year.  We simply do not have the right personnel.  We do have some great draft picks coming up so I’m sure it will be addressed.

– Will Greg “the leg” Zuerlein break the NFL field goal distance record this year?  OHH MY GOSH…  Ok, maybe this one isn’t so bad.  It’s extremely unimportant, but it’s pretty cool to have a kicker with that kind of potential.  If he does break the record, the Oakland Raiders will be putting a contract out on him.  After paying $9M a year for their kickers, no record breaking kicker from another team will be allowed to live.

Ok, I’m done venting. On the positive side, I read a great fact based article from the St Louis Post-Dispatch entitled, “Fisher looks at reasons defense struggled late”. (Written by my man Jim Thomas) He includes a quote from Fisher regarding the Rams defensive breakdown in the Lions game winning final drive:

“Guys were dropping a little bit (too deep), too concerned about the big play down the field to Calvin. As a result, we allowed some chunks. So, we got that corrected.”

We’ve got that corrected! Go Rams!!!
