After the first preseason game against the Colts a lot of Rams fans had a hard time breathing. It’s one thing to have a bad football team, but it’s a whole new world of pain to have renewed hopes dashed. It’s kind of like Charlie Brown rushing in to kick the ball only to have Lucy yank it away. “AAUGH… x*%&#!”
Well, luckily for Rams fans Preseason game 2 against the Chiefs (who clobbered the Cardinals in week #1) showed us that our “new look” squad is not some sad comic strip. After game one Fisher said he would make improvements and that’s exactly what he did. Against KC the Rams did a good job tackling. They even did a good job tackling on special teams. The Rams pass protected well. Bradford was only hit once and his performance earned him a 124.4% passer rating. The O-line also opened up holes for Steven Jackson who went 7 for 49. Most importantly the Rams scored. In fact they scored in every quarter of the game.
So, false alarm. For the moment our fears have been allayed. It’s important to see some consistency this coming Saturday as the Rams go to the home of Jerry Jones and play the Dallas Cowboys. Go Rams!!!
