Sunday 8/12: Rams 2012 Pre-Season Opener

So how are we feeling?  The only emotions coming into this head are those of elation, jubilation, and maybe exhilaration.  2012 is the year when we begin to right the ship.  Heck after a 2-14 2011 season, there are a lot of teams that need our foot to their butts.  I want to see rookie DT Michael Brockers roll over Andrew luck like a freight train and while Andrew’s lying on the ground trying to remember his last name I imagine Brockers bending over to graciously help him off the turf.  He plucks the grass out of his helmet, dusts him off, and wishes him a nice day.  I could watch that over and over and over.

In the preseason traditionally, the starting players only play for about the 1st quarter.  So what are we looking for during that time?  Just the basics. Can the offensive line protect Bradford in the pocket?  Are they able to get out in front of Stephen Jackson and set some blocks (the same for newly acquired FB Ovie Mughelli)?  Does Bradford look comfortable moving around on that ankle?  Can he keep his cool, make a few completions, and not turn the ball over?  On the defensive said, again just the basics.  Are the corners covering the middle of the field, is the defensive line applying pressure on Luck, etc?

For the first quarter I will be glued to the TV.  Unless you’re sharing some savvy on-field analysis or insight, don’t even think about talking to me. And during the first commercial you’d better not get between me and either the frig or the bathroom.  Then, after the first quarter is in the books, it’s all good.  It is time to sit back and drink it all in; the friends, the chips, the dips, the hot wings, and the ice cold beverages that are reaching out to me.  Ahh, NFL football I have really missed you man.
