More Monkey Bites

13,000 fans showed up today (8/4/12) at the Edward Jones Dome for the Rams first 2012 team scrimmage.  The open practice session or “Fan Fest” lasted about two hours and 15 minutes with several live 11-on-11 periods and a rookie period following the regular practice.  And unofficially a little time was made so that Rams fans could get autographs from their favorite players.

The following players did not participate in the scrimmage: rookie FB Todd Anderson, C Scott Wells, OT Rodger Saffold, OT Ryan McKee, RB Daryl Richardson, TE Lance Kendricks, and TE Deangelo Peterson.

Two wide receivers made some great catches and impressed onlookers: Brandon Gibson and Danny Amendola.

None of the QBs looked great throwing the long ball, but if its any consolation only one of these passes was picked off (by rookie CB Trumaine Johnson).

If you’re a fan of comedian Jim Carrey you might be familiar with “the claw” (from Liar Liar).  Well, Rams fans it’s time to say hello to rookie kicker Greg Zuerlein and “the leg”.  This is no joke.  He easily hit 2 field goals today from 59 yards and then just missed 1 from 64 yards.

We are looking to get strong now, but by 2015, the Rams will add five more first-rounders, three more second-rounders, and three more third-rounders.  (As exciting as this is…  bottom line as Sam Bradford goes… so go the Rams.  Without an elite quarterback at the helm all the improvements in the world will not get us a championship.)

I know I said this before, but the NFL preseason begins Sunday when the Saints play the Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton.

FOOTBALL!!!  Go Rams!!!

  1. FootballQA says:

Jeff Fisher seems to have an eye for kickers. Bironas in Tennessee was one of the best in the league and Greg Zuerlein is used in the same capacity as Bironas, the Rams just have to stop the run and control the clock. The dome + the leg of Zuerlein could mean that the Rams could be in the position to squeak out a few big wins in the last moments of a game.
