There are a lot of stats used in the NFL. Some stats provide more insight than others and some obviously are given more weight than others. One stat we pay attention to is turnovers. Traditionally, the better a team’s turnover ratio the better the team’s annual record. Here is a list of Super Bowl winners over the last 5 years, their turnover ratio, and right next to them the Rams turnover ratio for the same periods.

We can see that the year the Rams had a positive T/O ratio is the year they posted their best season (makes sense). We can also see 4 of 5 Super Bowl winners were also positive in the T/O category. Unfortunately, the Giants defied all logic in 2007 and won it all with a terrible T/O ratio. Bottom line it’s still of great importance for the Rams to bring these numbers up. Sam Bradford was one of our biggest turnover offenders in 2011. A lot of work has been on the O-line in the offseason to give Bradford more protection. In 2012 we need to not give away opportunities, but rather to capitalize upon them.
