The Rams’ offensive unit seems to be excited about organized team activities. The veterans took a week off (working out at their discretion) and rookies spent time in the gym. But what’s going on with the defense? Coach Fisher says from what he hears in practice, the guys seem to be picking up the new scheme:
“When you stand out and watch practice and everyone on defense is talking,” he said, “then everyone understands the defense.”
The consensus is the new defensive plays require less thinking and are geared towards action. Middle linebacker James Laurinaitis had this to say:
“We’re going to be very aggressive. There’s a lot less thinking. There’s still freedom to do things, but for the most part, it’s simplified so you can play fast.”
“There are multiple looks. You can do a lot of different things within those looks. You’re repeating a lot of the fundamental ideas, but you’re doing it with different looks so they don’t know what you’re doing. It allows you to just go.”
And his buddy Chris long seemed to confer. So I’m happy to report continued good news coming out of Rams OTAs.
Happy Holiday Rams Fans!!!
