Each team has a record of 1-6. There is also a good chance neither team will have a healthy starting QB to play this Sunday. So, do we even care about this game? I love football and I love the Rams, but the truth be told this is not a very compelling match up. Give me the 49ers instead. Give me Frank Gore vs Steven Jackson. Give me something. We had 7 weeks of embarrassing Rams football and then the heavens opened up and God said, “They are the Rams and this week they will be good.” And they were good. Steven Jackson was beautiful, we had a pass rush, and our receivers actually caught some passes. The win against the Saints this past weekend will be etched into the annals of my short term memory for at least the remaining 2011 season.
There is another truth here I hate to admit. This Rams win not only gave me some water cooler mojo, but it helped me forget how miserable we’ve been all season. If we played a good team next and lost then I could still play the denial brain game, but if we lose to the Cardinals then it is all over for me. I could try and play the numbers game. You know something like “at 1-7 if we win all of our remaining games and the 49ers lose the rest of theirs…”, but I’m not buying it even as I’m writing it. So, Rams… I’m asking you… no I begging you please win this week???!!! AJ Feeley, if you play another smart competent game I promise to say nice things about you for as long as you are physically able to pick up a football. What do you say???
