Rams Injury Update

We got some more information on the Rams injury status from Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo in his afternoon press conference, so let’s take a look at the Rams M.A.S.H. unit.

QB Sam Bradford (thumb “nerve bruise”) – Day to Day, should play on Monday night

RB Steven Jackson (quad) – Out for Week 2, Day to day for week 3 and beyond.

WR Danny Amendola (elbow) – May not require surgery, may return this season, may be as soon as week 3.  Notice all the “may’s” in that previous sentence.  Count him out for at least week 2, with the potential for a season-ending injury.  The Rams are still waiting for MRI results.  How long does it take an NFL team to get MRI results?  Shouldn’t that be instant in this day and age?

CB Ron Bartell (neck) – Bartell has potentially 2 broken vertebrae in his neck and is potentially out for the season.  That looks most likely to be a catastrophic loss for the Rams who could now have lost 2 of their top 3 corners for the year.  Count him out for MNF and a good candidate for IR, so the Rams can bring in a new corner.

CB Bradley Fletcher (sprained toe) – Day To Day, status unclear for Week 2.  The Rams will at least need Fletcher to cover Hakeem Nicks for the Giants.  Otherwise, it could get ugly.

RT Jason Smith (ankle) – Smith’s ankle injury is just a low ankle, not a high ankle.  Day to Day.  Could be back against Giants.

TE Michael Hoomanawanui (ankle) – Big Mike was spared the week 1 carnage because he didn’t play, but looks on target to be ready to face the Giants.  Can he play corner?

DE CJ Ah You (wrist) – CJ will wear a cast, but still be able to play if called upon.  Rams should sit him and activate 1st round pick Robert Quinn instead against a less mobile quarterback in Eli Manning.
