With the Rams cutting their roster to 53 players to get to the limit this afternoon, we have already covered the cuts, so let’s take a look at who has made the Rams roster. There are some surprises in the Rams roster.
TE Ben Guidugli – The Rams kept the versatile TE/FB over Fendi Onobun for his flexibility and blocking ability.
C Drew Miller – The Rams kept another versatile C/G who can play more than one position. Miller has been hanging around the Rams roster for a while from training camps to practice squad and finally making the active roster.
LB Jabara Williams – Everyone was raving about this late round draft pick and he made the team over 3 veteran outside linebackers.
FB Britt Miller – Everyone had Miller on the active roster towards the end of preseason, so this is only a minor surprise, but the Rams offense was not supposed to use a lot of FB. Looks like the Rams will use Miller when they need to run over the opposition.
WR Danario Alexander – Alexander makes the roster for now (both he and Curry could be causualities when Clayton returns) based on his potential as a size/speed/strength combination that none of the other Rams receivers possess. The key for Alexander will be staying healthy.
WR Dom Curry – For the 2nd year in a row, Curry is a deadline surprise. He made the roster through his play on special teams again despite a broken hand and a cast on said hand for most of preseason.
I was surprised about Thad. He is younger, can run, is cheaper and played lights out in consecutive preseasons.
Avery, probably the right move, and I must give them credit for doing what they thought was best for the team, by letting the first WR picked in his draft class go.
I highly commend them for keeping Jabara. Lots of 1 year deals will likely create opportunities for heavy playing time in 2012.
I am also high on Drew Miller.
Wish Fraley had been shown the door.
