Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch believes the Rams could give serious consideration to drafting Alabama running back Mark Ingram with the 14th overall pick if Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones is off the board.
There were signs last season that Steven Jackson is approaching his decline phase after 1,878 career carries, and the Rams have not been able to get serious about drafting a backfield mate or potential long-term successor. Defensive end is a bigger need for St. Louis, however. Chris Long played the second most snaps of any 4-3 end in the NFL last year, and James Hall is 34.
