Rams 2010 Season Review: Guards

The Rams guards were pushed around much more than we hoped this season with one of the most obvious positions to upgrade this offseason at right guard.

LG Jacob Bell – Bell has not played as well in St. Louis in 3 years as he did in Tennessee before signing a huge free agent deal.  Bell has played better with better players on either side of him, but can still get pushed around too often.

RG Adam Goldberg – Speaking of getting pushed around, here is Adam Goldberg, who is most valuable as a backup at 4 offensive line positions rather than a starter.  He’s a lighter guard who is better at pass protection than run blocking.  The Rams really need an upgrade here to help their running game and pass protection.

RG John Greco – The Rams found a lot of success with swapping Goldberg and Greco, who is bigger and stronger in the run game, but surprisingly he was inactive a lot over the end of the season.  Greco needs to take the right guard position by the horns or the Rams need to upgrade the right guard as soon as possible.  Greco has a lot of potential, but for whatever reason, he has not realized it yet.

G Mark Setterstom – Poor Mark.  He’s been injured all of his seasons in the NFL.  He’s a solid player when he can stay healthy, but unfortunately, I don’t know if he can.
