Rams Have One Big Advantage Over NFC West Going Forward

The Rams are the only team in the division not embroiled in a quarterback controversy.  Quarterback controversies are the most insidious problem an NFL team can have.  Every incomplete pass is second guessed, because the fans think the quarterback on the bench could have done better because he was not out there missing that pass.

Any Rams fans from the Marc Bulger-Kurt Warner era can attest to the major problems a quarterback quandary can create.  Let’s look/gawk at the other quarterback scenarios in the NFC West.

Seattle: Matt Hasselback/Charlie Whitehurst – Hasselback has been in decline for a few years, but Whitehurst is probably not the answer himself.  The Seahawks are sticking with Hasselback for the rest of the season at least.

San Francisco: Alex Smith/Troy Smith – Two very different quarterbacks, one very mobile, the other not at all.  Alex Smith is a former #1 overall selection and Troy is a former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback.  Head Coach Singletary keeps switching back and forth depending on who played well or terrible in the last game.

Arizona: Derek Anderson/Max Hall/John Skelton – The Arizona Cardinals have no idea here after Kurt Warner retired.  They have tried all three quarterbacks in one game to no avail.  This is less of a quarterback controversy and more of a quarterback sadness.
