Rams vs Broncos: Q2 Update

Jackson has been grinding away at the Broncos 3-4 defense.  According to Fox Sports, Jackson was mentally prepped for this.  Noting that after a lot of short runs, he would be able to break free later in the game.  Whether or not this will come true remains to be seen, but he is definitely fighting for short gains thus far.  In the 2nd QTR, after a Broncos field goal the Rams take possession of the ball at the 12:27 mark.  Jackson had 5 possessions (in this drive) for a total of 13 yards.  Luckily for the Rams, they have other high profile players whose game plan does not include waiting until the second half to make their move.    Notably in the 2nd QTR would be Sam Bradford and Billy Bajema.

In the drive referenced previously, Bradford went 5 of 7 for 43 yards and a 2 yard TD pass to Mr Bajema.  The next drive looked very different, but the outcome was the same; a Bradford pass and a Bajema catch for a TD.  The latter drive started at the Rams own 29 yard line.  Bradford threw a 45 yard pass to the left to WR Alexander.  We have an incomplete pass and then that sweet pass to Billy (26 yard TD reception).   As I write this I hear a ‘thud’ coming from the monitor.  That ‘thud’ was the PAT smacking into the goal post and bouncing off.  The score is now Rams 20, Broncos 13.

The Rams kick off and the Broncos settle for a touch back.  A now lethargic Broncos squad goes 3 and out  and are forced to punt the ball.    There is 2:27 remaining in the half and Rams take over at their own 40 yard line.  We see very little of SJ in this drive, but with a couple of passes and a big Broncos penalty the Rams are able to tack on 3 with a Josh Brown 28 yard field goal.  Wait because where you have lethargy you have mistakes.  The Broncos fumble the ball on the kick off return (Jerome Murphy recovers).  The Rams don’t do much, but thank you Denver Broncos because we get 3 more points out of their mess.   Halftime is here and the score is Rams 26, Broncos 13.  Stay tuned to see if SJ can make good on his prediction and because with 2 quarters in the books; there is more to come.
