Rams vs Falcons: The Final Word

The Falcons continued to dominate with their offense.  They chew up the first 7 minutes of the 4th QTR, but only come up with 3 additional points (26-17 Falcons).  With approximately 7 and a half minutes remaining Bradford and the Rams go to work.  It has been a while since I have used the work ‘crisp’ to describe the Rams offense, but once again they are playing with a fire and a purpose.  Passes to Fells,  Amendola, and Robinson bring the Rams to the Falcons 36.   Next we are looking at passes to Robinson and Amendola that brings us all the way to the Falcons 7 yard line.  We are down by 9 points so we really need a TD here.  Instead, the unthinkable happens.  A shuffle pass from Bradford to an invisible Rams receiver is intercepted.  I’m not sure who the intended receiver was, but with the dropping jaws of every Rams fan, the ball floated softly into the hands of Falcons safety Moore who ran for 12.

For all practically purposed the game ended right there.  For squirts and giggles, the Falcons tack on 7 more with a break away run by Turner.  This run for 39 yards was just a little salt into the wound.  This is the second straight game that our opponents star running backs had a big impact on the game ( last week it was Frank Gore of the 49ers) while our star running back Steven Jackson had little or no impact on the game.  The final score is Rams 17, Falcons 34.  The final word is that the Rams are clearly a better team than their teams of the last several years, but they have a long way to go to become a championship caliber team in the NFL.
