Thinking Positive

The one good thing about the Rams position in 2010 is that they play in the terrible NFC West.  Any one of the four teams could win the division with a few key wins in head to head matchups.

  • All four teams have played one division game and one non-division game and two teams sit at 1-1 and two teams sit at 0-2.  The San Francisco 49ers, who were the chic pick to win the division this year sit with the Rams at 0-2.
  • The Rams have allowed the least number of points in the division through two games and are second in net points as both Arizona and San Francisco were blown out in one of their games.
  • The Rams are only one game out of first place in the NFC West.  With losses by Arizona and Seattle in Week 3 and a Rams win, they could be in first place in the division.
  • Only 12% of teams that go 0-2 make the playoffs, but obviously that stat has not seen the NFC West.  Both 0-2 teams are within striking range of the division.
  • The Rams can take solace that they aren’t the other attention getting teams at 0-2.  The Minnesota Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys fanbases might self-destruct if they do not get a win in week 3.

The Rams are not in a terrible place record-wise.  They just need to get some wins in the soft part of their schedule to gain confidence (and standing in the division) before going to the more difficult second half.
