Rams Cut 20 – Reach 53 Man Limit

Here’s the complete list from Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

_ QB Keith Null

_ RB Chris Ogbonnaya

_ FB Dennis Morris

_ WRs Danario Alexander, Jordan Kent, Brandon McRae

_ TE Darcy Johnson

_ G Roger Allen, C Tim Mattran, T Ryan McKee, C Drew Miller, T Eric Young (IR).

_ DE Victor Adeyanju, DT Ernest Reid

_ LBs Devin Bishop, Bobby Carpenter, Cardia Jackson

_ CBs Quincy Butler, Marquis Johnson, Antoine Thompson

_ Ss Brett Johnson, Kevin Payne (IR)

Victor Adeyanju is a bit of a surprise, but the current Rams braintrust never liked him that much preferring to keep him on the list of in-actives for the first half of 2009.

Chris Ogbonnaya came into training camp as the favorite to become the backup to Steven Jackson, but he did very little with his opportunity.  He was always too easy for the defense to bring down and too often went to the turf with first contact.

Danario Alexander was too hurt to make it on the practice field for more than a week, but should quickly pass through waivers to the Rams practice squad.

Brandon McRae has tons of talent, but needs just as much polish and should end up on a practice squad somewhere learning the wide receiver craft.  He was outplayed by Dominque Curry on special teams, which is key for roster bubble players to impress coaches.

Quincy Butler played a big role with the injury prone Rams secondary over the past two plus seasons, but the Rams have increased the talent level in their secondary and he was no longer neccessary.

Marquis Johnson should have an open invite to the Rams practice squad and he is a undersized but hard-nozed tackler and solid cover corner.

Kevin Payne and Eric Young are on the injured reserve, ending their seasons.
