Training Camp Position Breakdown: FB

The Rams have two fullbacks and will only keep one, so this is a very good chill evening post.

Mike Karney – The Rams signed Mike Karney in the offseason before the 2009 season and so far he has been a good addition. If only Steven Jackson would follow him to the whole more often. Due to that fact Steven Jackson was slightly more successful running out of the single-back two tight-end sets. Karney will be the only true fullback on the Rams roster unless he gets hurt and then the Rams will add another. The tight ends also work out of the backfield occasionally for pass protection and different looks.

Jamie McCoy – Jamie McCoy is working as the second team fullback and emergency backup running back. He’s 6’2” and 240 lbs so he has the size even to play at tight end if in a pinch. But with the Rams lack of emphasis on the full back, McCoy will be a cut on cut down day.
