Sam Bradford wowed scouts and on-lookers in his pro day yesterday, making it all but certain the Rams will select him with the first pick in the NFL draft. The best tell was immediately after the workout, Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo was the first non-Oklahoma person to come and congratulate Bradford. The two spoke for another few minutes until other NFL types came to talk to Bradford. To me, that spoke volumes about what the Rams think about Bradford.
However, the Rams were not the only team to take a shine to Mr. Bradford on Monday. The Washington Redskins were the next team in the draft order to covet Sam Bradford and they are the team that would pick Bradford if the Rams passed on him. This information is from Jason Reid’s “Redskins Insider” column at the Washington Post.
There are some who believe Bradford might prefer to play for Washington rather than St. Louis. … Though next month’s draft is expected to operate under the rookie salary pool, there are many who think it would be more lucrative for Bradford to play in Washington, as well. … So how could it play out? There are obviously a number of ways. If it turns out Bradford really would prefer to play for another team, he and his camp could make that known during negotiations with St. Louis, essentially refusing to sign if the Rams drafted him.
“There are some who believe?”. ”There are many who think?” This is ridiculous. Of course an incoming rookie would prefer to play for another team besides the Rams who have won 6 games in the past 3 years. I’m sure there are some who believe he would rather play for New England than St. Louis.
The Rams have the first pick and they will pick Sam Bradford, who’s agent, Tom Condon is based in St. Louis. And the only similarities to the Eli Manning situation is the Rams have the number 1 pick and the Redskins have number 4.
