Rams Let Setterstrom Hit Market

One of the other Rams restricted free agents, guard Mark Setterstrom is in line not to get a restricted free agent tender from the Rams and become an unrestricted free agent even thought the Rams want him back for 2010.  The Rams are banking on Setterstrom’s checkered injury history in his short career as a deterrent to other teams.  In four years, Setterstrom has had his season cut short by a season ending injury two times.  In 2009, he suffered an injury late in the season, but it was not on the scale of his other season ending injuries.

Other teams may not know about the under-the-radar Setterstrom who has been solid when he has been able to get on the field for the Rams.  Setterstrom would cost more than $1million in 2010 with the tender and the Rams are hoping that they will be able to sign him for less.  Given Setterstom’s injury history, if the Rams gave Setterstrom a few years at a lesser rate, he would probably be happy to accept it.

Setterstrom is a solid backup and potential starter at right guard and the Rams should do what they can to bring him back.
