Rams Workout CFL Rookie of the Year

According to Around the Horns, the Rams worked out CFL rookie of the Year, Martell Mallett of the BC Lions.  He hasn’t been signed to a contract, yet.  He also worked out for the Eagles.

From his highlight video below it looks like he has decent speed, great vision, but his main downfall in the inability to make a man miss in the open field.  It would make a lot of sense for the Rams to bring in Mallett to the offseason roster and try him out in training camp.  He looks like he has some ability, even though the CFL’s huge field provides acres of space for the running back.

He was mostly running out of the shotgun and pistol formations, but it looks like he should be able to run fairly well in the Rams’ standard formations.

Mallett’s highlight video is after the jump.
