There has been a lot of chatter around the Internet, at Mocking the Draft and Turf Show Times about the Rams team needs going into free agency and the draft, and I thought this was a good time to start with my Rams team needs that will be updated throughout the offseason.
I reserve the right to change my order at any time!
1. QB - The Rams may need 2 QBs this offseason and for that reason I’m putting it at number 1. These two spots would be nicely filled with a veteran and a rookie.
2. DT - Adam Carriker is not a starting DT anymore, so the Rams only have 1 starter in Clifton Ryan. Ndamunkong Suh would look nice filling this need.
3. WR - The Rams need a feature WR, so a late round draft pick or under the radar free agent pick up will not fulfill this need. This is the one need that is the least likely to be filled this offseason.
4. OLB - The Rams have a great MLB in Laurinatis and a young improving player in Vobora, but they need another two-way outside linebacker. With an improved OLB and DT, the Rams could stop the run better in 2010.
5. TE - The Rams should say goodbye to Randy McMichael in the offseason and need a starting tight end to help the offense. The Rams should be looking around the 3rd or 4th round in the draft for this player.
6. DE - The Rams may be without Little and Hall next year and are in need of pass rushers to compliment the opposite side of Chris Long.
7. G - The Rams release troubled RG Richie Incognito and may need to fill this need in the offseason since Greco and Setterstrom are not perfect options for promotion to starter.
8. CB - Bradley Fletcher was coming on before his season-ending injury, but beyond Fletcher and Bartell, the Rams have few options. A late round pick would be perfect to throw into competition with the rest of the depth corners.
9. T - If Alex Barron leaves, which it looks like he might, the Rams will have a need at Right Tackle.
10. RB - Steven Jackson needs a viable backup running back to keep him healthy for a whole season and keep him playing at a high-level for many more years.

While most of your top ten needs are right on I have to disagree with 5.TE. Fells isn’t the second coming of Tony Gonzalez but he is functional. I would put TE need at #9.
Good list.
I would move up DE above OLB, in the Spagnuolo scheme — this is going to be a big weakness for us unless we make a significant move. Our coverage only needs to be average if we can turn our D-line into a real force, and put pressure on the opposing QBs.
I also agree that G is a priority, though Jim Thomas has notably played this down in recent chats.
I think we are okay at RT, with Adam Goldberg and Trautwein as the backup. Trautwein actually did pretty well in Week 17. I’d move RB above this.
I would list QB and DL as 1a and 1b. Both are critical. I say DL (and not DE or DT) because the rams simply need at least two difference makers on the d-line anywhere they can get them, whether it’s Suh, a FA DE, etc. They only had 25 sacks and 11 came from their two oldest defensive players.
Beyond that, OLB, TE and CB are the top for me. I don’t think they have a single starting-calliber OLB on their roster. They need a TE to make the west coast offense go (let’s go get Tony Scheffler from DEN). And they are thin at CB unless they feel Fletcher will be 100% by August which seems doutful.
Darby and Gado combined for 41 carries last year. They need a backup RB that can give them double that. I’d go sign that Mallett kid from the CFL and let him compete with Darby and Ogbonnaya for the RB2 and RB3 spots.
