Old Feuds Die Hard

It has been almost 10 years since the Rams GM Charlie Armey and former Head Coach Mike Martz had an extremely bitter divorce over the running of the St. Louis Rams.  Armey retired and left the feud to Jay Zygmunt, who eventually won the feud with Mike Martz and proceeded to run the St. Louis Rams into the ground.  There is a lot of behind the scenes details that no one had any knowledge of between Armey and Martz, but there is some new quotes out today that indicates that the wounds are still fresh for Armey.

Since Mike Martz is apparently in the conversation to join his friend Lovie Smith in Chicago to fill the vacant offensive coordinator position.  Armey was asked about Martz’s qualifications for the Bear’s job and he had this to say (From ESPNChicago)

“I don’t think Martz would work well with Jay Cutler at all,” Armey said. “He’s a terrible … coach, and he would ruin that kid like he ruined Kurt Warner and drove him out of St. Louis. He’s the worst thing that could happen to any young quarterback.”

“I would guess Lovie would hire him because there’s a lot of loyalty there,” Armey said. “But I think it would be an absolute mistake, and it would shorten Lovie’s career.”

First of all, the ellipses between “terrible” and “coach” is quite glaring and it makes me wonder what exactly was said between those two words.  Was it a curse word or something else?

The Rams are finally digging themselves out of the trouble that the feud between Mike Martz, Charlie Armey and Jay Zygmunt put them in and apparently, the feud is still alive and well between Martz and Armey.

Maybe he started cursing like Yosemite Sam. It’s hard on the AP reporter when you can’t spellcheck “razzlefrackenfrizzlecrackin”
