ESPN’s NFC West blogger, Mike Sando, chimes in with a very encouraging stat about Rams young defensive end, Chris Long.

Rams defensive end Chris Long had more sacks this season — 5.0 — than Terrell Suggs, Julian Peterson, Shawne Merriman, Albert Haynesworth, Richard Seymour or Aaron Kampman.

This only further supports what we all saw as Rams fans.  Chris Long started to figure everything out towards the second half of his sophomore season.  He was a force against the run, even when teams ran towards the other side of the formation.  He is quickly improving in the pass rush, as Mike Sando’s number indicates.  He always had the drive and the potential, but he is starting to put it all together with pass rush moves and experience that are helping him live up the the hype as the son of Howie Long and #2 overall selection.
