Player Profile: Adam Goldberg

Adam Goldberg is not the team super star and he is not a first round draft pick. He is just another one of the core players of the St Louis Rams that makes up the heart and sole of the team. He was born in August 12, 1980 in Edina, Minnesota.
Adam played high school football at Edina High. His senior year he played both offensive and defensive line and recorded 95 tackles (19 solo) and 76 assists. He was selected as First-Team All-Mountain West Conference (twice), started 44 of 45 career games, and graduated with a finance degree in 2002.
2003 he was completely passed over in the NFL Draft. He spent the entire year on the Minnesota Viking’s practice squad. In 2004, he started the last six contests of the season plus two postseason games at right tackle. In 2005, he started 12 games (also at right tackle). In 2004 Goldberg earned $236k and in 2005 $311k. In 2006 he was traded to the Rams where he attempted to replace the injured Pro Bowler, Orlando Pace at left tackle. That year he had 2 starts for the Rams, played in 15 games, and earned $425k
2007 proved to be a difficult year for Goldberg. He ended up playing in only the first 4 contests of the year (starting in 2). In week 4 he injured his left knee and spent the remainder of the year on injured reserve. 2007 earnings were approximately $857k. In 2008 Adam played in only 6 games, but what is truly amazing is that he played 4 out of 5 offensive line positions during that time. His 2008 NFL earnings were $650k. This past year Adam has inked a 2 year $1.8M deal with the Rams so we look forward to seeing him healthy and better than ever over the next few years.
In 2009 through Week 15, he has started 13 out of 15 games. Goldberg has been penalized only 6 times all year and has allowed less than 5 sacks. Every team needs this type of unsung, diehard, in the trenches core player on their team. We Ram’s fans look forward to the rebuilding of our beloved franchise and more solid performances from Adam Goldberg.
