Darell Scott is Improving

The Rams drafted defensive tackle Darell Scott in the 34th round of the 2009 NFL draft and he had yet to make an impact until the Rams week 12 game against the Seattle Seahawks in which the Rams rewarded him with his first NFL start (even though FOX didn’t realize he was starting).  The Rams still got run over at the point of attack by the Seahawks offensive line and Justin Forsett.  However, there were a few bright spots for Scott and the Rams.  On two occasions Scott was able to penetrate into the backfield and stop Forsett before he was able to get running downhill.  However, Scott is still a rookie and was even inactive for 4 games in the beginning of the year.  So, he is still inconsistent and is still improving.

Darell Scott is 6’3″ and 315 pounds (which makes him bigger than NFL draft DT prospects Suh from Nebraska and McCoy from Oklahoma).  He has the possibility to turn himself into one of the answers at DT for the Rams going forward.  He’s big, he’s strong and he’s got great quickness as he showed against the Seahawks.  Now, if Scott can just get playing time to become more consistent, the Rams might actually have a valuable 4th round DT on their hands.

The Post-Dispatch covered Scott today.
